Living Through a Kitchen Remodel
Plan a temporary food-preparation area, dishwashing arrangements and storage for essentials before the kitchen becomes unavailable. Discuss access routes, pets and utility interruptions with the team.
Kitchen Remodeling Questions
How can we compare kitchen remodeling estimates?
Compare the same cabinet specifications, appliance responsibilities and installation work. Check whether counters, backsplash, lighting and utility changes are included, and distinguish fixed selections from allowances. A total is more useful when you know what it covers.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Planning and ordering happen before installation. Cabinet and appliance lead times can affect the start date; confirm when the room will be unavailable and which decisions must be made before work begins.
Can we keep the existing kitchen layout?
Yes, if it supports your needs. New cabinetry, better storage, lighting and surfaces can be considered within the current arrangement. Changes to layout should be evaluated against the space, existing conditions and investment.
Can you help with cabinets, surfaces and appliance placement?
BST Design & Build helps coordinate these decisions as part of the remodeling plan. Share appliances you want to keep or purchase early, because their dimensions and service requirements affect cabinetry and layout.
Can we remove a wall or add an island?
These options depend on the room, clearances and the home’s structure and building systems. Discuss them during the evaluation stage so any engineering or specialist input can be identified.
Can we use the kitchen during construction?
Access depends on the stage of work. A room that can be entered may still have disconnected appliances or utilities. Confirm with the team when the space can be used and plan around the periods when it cannot.
What should we prepare for the first conversation?
Share your project address, photos of the current kitchen, your main frustrations and any inspiration images. You do not need a finished design to begin.
