Everyday Comfort, Thoughtfully Planned
Plan the layout, shower or tub, vanity storage, lighting and finishes together, with water management and ventilation considered alongside the visible details.
What Your Bathroom Remodel Can Include
A primary bathroom shared by two people has different priorities from a hall or guest bath. Start with who uses the room, what needs to be within reach and what you would like to make easier.
Layout & Daily Routines
Consider movement, fixture locations and room to use the bathroom comfortably.
Showers & Tubs
Discuss the size, entry, fixtures and features that suit your household and the available space.
Vanities & Storage
Plan storage for everyday items alongside counter space, mirrors and the way the vanity is used.
Lighting & Ventilation
Coordinate mirror and room lighting with ventilation and the bathroom’s existing systems.
Tile & Finishes
Consider tile scale, surfaces, hardware and cleaning needs as parts of one design.
Water Management & Access
Review drainage, waterproofing needs and any access priorities with the appropriate specialist input.
A bathroom remodel may be right for you when the current arrangement limits comfort, storage is inadequate or fixtures and finishes need a coordinated update.

Working with BST Design & Build
Comfort and Construction, Planned Together
BST Design & Build helps you develop bathroom layouts and coordinate fixtures, cabinetry and material selections for the projects we build. Explore product samples with our team at the Elkridge and Tysons showrooms.
Planning includes the visible design and the work behind it: plumbing changes, water management, ventilation and existing conditions. We discuss specialist responsibilities and coordinate construction decisions within the agreed scope.
Your Bathroom Remodeling Process
Six connected steps, adapted to the needs of your project.
Share Your Priorities
Discuss the bathroom’s users, daily needs and investment range.
Evaluate & Design
Review the layout, existing conditions and fixture options.
Align Selections
Coordinate tile, vanity, fixtures, lighting and the agreed scope.
Plan & Prepare
Confirm materials, access and alternative bathroom arrangements.
Coordinate & Build
Manage the work and communicate about decisions and progress.
Walkthrough & Care
Review the finished bathroom, remaining details and care guidance.
Planning Your Bathroom Investment
Fixture choices, tile work and existing conditions shape the investment. Define the scope before comparing finishes or estimates.
Before construction, clarify:
- Whether fixture locations stay in place or change.
- Which fixtures, tile, glass and installation work are included.
- Any allowances, exclusions and outstanding selections.
- How concealed conditions or proposed changes will be reviewed.
Plan Bathroom Access Before Work Begins
Identify an available bathroom, the route workers will use and a place to store materials. Share household access needs early, especially if more than one bathroom is included.
Bathroom Remodeling Questions
How can we compare bathroom remodeling estimates?
Check that each estimate covers the same tile areas, vanity, fixtures, glass and installation work. Confirm what is included for waterproofing, ventilation and plumbing, along with allowances and the approach to concealed conditions.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Distinguish design and ordering time from the period when the bathroom is out of use. Product lead times and the work sequence affect that period, so confirm availability and the proposed schedule before construction.
Can a tub be replaced with a shower?
It may be possible, depending on the room, plumbing, drainage and your household’s needs. Discuss shower size, entry, glass and water management as part of the overall plan.
Can we keep the current fixture locations?
Yes, where the arrangement supports your needs and existing conditions allow it. Keeping fixtures in place can limit some layout changes, while still allowing improvements to storage, lighting and finishes.
Can you plan for easier access or future needs?
Raise these priorities at the start. Entry, circulation, fixture placement and potential support features should be considered for the people using the room and assessed against the home and applicable project requirements.
What if there is water damage or a ventilation problem?
Tell the team about known issues before selections are finalized. The cause and appropriate response need to be assessed, with specialist work included as needed; new finishes alone should not be treated as the solution.
Can several bathrooms be remodeled together?
Yes, they can be considered as one plan while retaining a different purpose and finish selection for each room. Ask whether overlapping the work or completing one bathroom first better fits your household and the project.
