What are the features of minimalism and minimalist design?

Are you from one of these who feel depressed all of a sudden without any reason? This may be caused by daily stress, emotional background, or maybe just the accumulation of physically, exceeding of everything, having too many things. At this point, your solution is minimalism.

For example, we have been using minimalist designs in many areas of our home in recent years. The effects of minimalism are frequently seen in kitchen designs. If you want to get information about minimalist kitchen designs, you can check our kitchen remodeling page and contact us.

Maybe you heard about this so many times before, but you ignored it by saying “I can’t be ordinary”. But from classical music to home decoration that has minimalist interaction, small changes may bring you peace. So, As BST Design, we want to give you some useful tips about minimalism that will definitely give inspirations to you. Here are what is minimalism and what is not. How to become a minimalist? And what are the features of minimalism? We hope that you will enjoy reading it.

What is and is not Minimalism?

Minimalism, as a general definition, is the ability to make simple something without losing quality. It is the peace that comes from plainness. Minimalism is making your life neater and more quality by extracting all unnecessary and meaningless things. It is not a style that only people who like simplicity can have. Also, the ones who like to be alive and crowded can also follow it. As we can understand that it comes from the minimum, which means the least amount that is required.

So what is not minimalism? Minimalism is not having/being;

  • Ordinary,
  • Poor quality,
  • Cheap,
  • Disorderly,
  • Nothing.

Actually, it is just the opposite. Minimalism is a way of thinking that you can get rid of all these negative things. Now let’s see how to become a minimalist.

How to Become a Minimalist? What are the Steps?

So, how can you be a minimalist and reach inner peace? Here is the route that you should follow about the features of minimalism.

Motivation

Whatever or however your life is, you should have a strong motivation for a more decent and peaceful life. Just be patient, and follow the road.

Priorities

After creating the motivation, you should stay away from the people that make you feel unpeaceful. You should also start extracting your extra stuff which makes you feel the same. These may be the stuff that;

  • Use because you took them as a gift, but you don’t like,
  • Is tiring and you don’t like to look at it,
  • You bought in an instant, because of a great discount,
  • Just it is your favorite color,
  • You regret after buying,
  • The clothes that you keep in your closet that you may wear one day, but you don’t.

And for the people that make you feel uneasy, just stay away from them without breaking any heart.

The Aim

Just like your life, your objects should have an aim too. This way, living will have meaning. So, think about your stuff again, what is for what? Which belongings just exist? The stuff you think you can live without, just get rid of them. There are so many rummage sale sites on the internet. Use them.

Less Quantity, More Quality

We have already mentioned about minimalism is not a lack of quality. So you should pay attention to have quality but enough staff or furniture. Instead of cheap but easily broken stuff, you should pay just a little more and prefer better ones. This will make you happier. Because paying extra money to repair constantly is not a joyful thing.

The Needs

Especially during shopping, you should question that do you need it or not. Just an updated version of something is not a need. When you pay for something that you really don’t need, this may make you feel regret about it later. And that will make unnecessary stress. Use your money, resources efficiently, and be happy.
